Orange County Fair Speedway's Eastern States Weekend will feature the world premier of "Gary Balough: A Checkered Past", the new feature length documentary about one of dirt racing's most prolific drivers and his time as a drug smuggler.
What began in 1962 as a one-day, end-of-season 100-lap race for Modified stock cars has grown to a four full days of nonstop competition with championship races for United Rentals DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, H.O. Penn Cat Small-Block Modifieds, Arkel Motors Sportsman, NAPA Northeast Parts Group Street Stocks, Short Track Super Series Modifieds, USAC Wingless Sprints, and Pro Stocks. Each division will compete in a full program of qualifying races and a lucrative feature event. The headline DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Eastern States 200 will see the winner take home a base purse of $40,000 plus lap and contingency awards.

With the return of events in summer 2021, the sounds of live music can once again be heard throughout Orange County, NY. Middletown’s Orange County Fairgrounds has now hosted a handful of concerts across multiple live music spaces on the grounds. While acts like Toby Keith and Brantley Gilbert performed on the grounds’ stadium/speedway, acts like Blackberry Smoke, Everclear and Better than Ezra have performed on the grounds’ outdoor, lawn seated amphitheater “The Barn”. Next up for The Barn stage are rock legends, CHEAP TRICK, and they are brining a local opener with them!
A still racing Buzzie Reutimann will be making the trip up north from his Florida home to visit OCFS on the last night of regular competition for the 2021 season. The final event for the United Rentals DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds is the 50-lap championship race on Thursday, September 2nd. Buzzie, and other past champions in attendance will present our 2021 champion with his big check for $25,000!
Whittled down from a season-long field of 57 United Rentals DIRTcar Big-Block Modified drivers, on Thursday, September 2 the Final Four drivers will battle in a 50-lap showdown against two-dozen competitors with the top finisher among the four crowned United Rentals Orange County Fair Speedway Modified Champion. Presented by VP Racing Fuels, there’s prestige and money on the line with $25,000 going to the champion, and significant cash and other awards going to the overall top-ten drivers when all the points are tallied. And for good measure, the race winner will take home $5,000, and if he or she is other than one of the Final Four, a guaranteed 13th starting slot in the October 24 Eastern States 200, the oldest continuously-run championship race for dirt track Modifieds.
There’s prestige and money on the line Saturday, August 28 on the final night of weekly competition for Orange County Fair Speedway’s H.O. Penn Cat Small-Block Modified drivers, as well as those competing in the Arkel Motors Sportsman division and the NAPA Northeast Parts Group Street Stock ranks. At the conclusion of the evening’s racing, the champion driver in each of these divisions will be crowned. And in the headline United Rentals DIRTcar Big-Block Modified division, the eight drivers currently qualified for the title will be pared down to the “Final Four” who will battle on Thursday, September for the 2021 United Rentals Big-Block Modified Championship and its $25,000 award.
Tension mounts as just two race meets remaining to determine the “Final Four” who will battle for the 2021 United Rentals Big-Block Modified Championship at Orange County Fair Speedway. That puts pressure on seven of the eight drivers looking to make the cut and race for the $25,000 award that goes with the title. By virtue of two previous wins in major races, only Stewart Friesen is already locked in the Final Four.
