4/24/21 - Tyler Boniface wins 358 Modified $3,000 to win night

The H.O Penn Cat 358 Modified division was in the spotlight Saturday night with a boosted pay out of $3,000 to win. 31 358 competitors entered for the evening with Joey Bonetti, Billy Dunn, and Bob McGannon collecting the heat race wins and all cars starting the night's event. After a redraw, Joey Bonetti and Jimmy Spellmon would sit on the front row for the 30 lap show down. As the green dropped Jimmy Spellmon would get out to the lead early, however just a few laps later Joey Bonetti and Tyler Boniface would go around the #28 and take control up front.

As multiple lanes of racing began to open up, many of the challengers from the back began making their way to the front. The first caution would be displayed on lap 10 for issues with the #5L of Charlie Loiodice in turn 4. The restacking of the field would result in multiple cautions on restarts, but the last restart saw “The Highside Hustler” of Tyler Boniface work his way around the fast Joey Bonetti for the lead. “DC Express” Danny Creeden and the invading “Machine Gun” Billy Dunn would make their way into the top five as well until a caution would fly for an incident involving Kirk Horton, Erik Holmgren, and Randy Sweetman in turn 3.

The final restart would put Boniface and Bonetti side by side with the duo of Creeden and Dunn right in tow. Once the green dropped, Boniface picked up right where he left off, but Dunn and Creeden both made their way around Bonetti. Dunn hunted Boniface down, and the pair were side by side around the speedway fighting for the lead. When lap traffic presented itself, Boniface and Dunn both tried to utilize it in their favor, however right down to the wire Tyler Boniface was able to hold off Dunn and get the $3,000 pay day. “ What a race track they gave us tonight! That lap traffic was sketchy, and I did what was best for me.” Explained Boniface. “The fans don’t come to see us freight train around the bottom of the speedway.”

77 years young, Everett Haubrich and former Pro Stock competitor Troy Arnold made up the front row for the 20 lap Arkel Motors Sportsman feature event. After a no-start caution, the restart allowed Troy Arnold to take rights to the lead. Arnold who was very fast began quickly to check out from the field, and behind him Joey Conklin made his way into second with 13 year old Jacob Allen coming with him in third. As Troy's lead began to extend, Jacob Allen and “The Professor” Grant Hilfiger would get on by Joey Conklin. A caution would follow however.

Arnold and Allen would bring the field to the green with Troy still out front. On this restart, 2019 Track Champion Grant Hilfiger would make his way into second until another caution would follow. On the next restart chaos broke loose. Troy Arnold would get loose and slide up into Hilfiger hopping his left rear tire and spinning in front of the field. This would be the first of two red flag incidents back to back. On the final restart it would be Grant Hilfiger and Joey Bonetti out front. Hilfiger would keep the lead and checked out, picking up the win.

The 15 lap Precision Hydraulic Rookie Sportsman feature would have Nick Giardini and Alyssa Fogel lead the way. After a couple cautions, the field got going. Fogel would get out to the lead. It wasn’t too long however before the #51 of Mike Giuliano would get by both Giardini and Fogel for the lead. A caution would come out for a tangle involving a few drivers. Giuliano and “The Deerpark Diva” Isabella VanOrden would restart the race. Giuliano would keep his lead. Rookie Sportsman feature winner a few short weeks ago, Dylan Madsen, would work his way up into third from the rear, before quickly taking over second. Bob Jashembowski also would make his way into the top five getting into third position. Both Madsen and Jashembowski was a few laps later as Giuliano had extended his lead too far and would collect his first feature event win. “I just want to say thank you to everybody that got me here. I'm very happy. I thank my dad. I hope to one day do for my kids what he has done for me.” Concluded Giuliano.
